A disposable unit used to collect mucous, gas, or fluid aspirated from a patient by a suction apparatus, surgical or hospital central vacuum system. It generally consists of a graduated cylindrical plastic container with tight sealing lid, patient and vacuum parts, and shut-off valve. It may include suction tubing, filters, splash guard, defoaming agents, pour spout, handle, liner, port caps, connectors, adaptors and the like. Excludes drainage unit, pleural cavity.
