ACQUISITION ADVICE CODE (AAC): a one position alpha code that indicates how and under what restrictions an item will be acquired. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 58.

ACC

AIR COMMODITY CODE: a one position alphanumeric code for all shipments via air to identify material for manifesting and customs requirements. in accordance with dod 4100.3-m, volume 10, table 85.

ADC

AIR DIMENSION CODE: a one position alpha code that identifies dimensional characteristics of air shipments by relating the length, width, or height dimensions of the largest piece to the minimum size cargo door opening of an aircraft. in accordance with dod 4100.3-m, volume 10, table 84.

ADP

AUTOMATIC DATA PROCESSING (ADP) POINT: a six position alphanumeric department of defense activity address code (dodaac). codes can be found on the defense automatic addressing system center (daasc) inquiry system. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 133.

AUTOMATIC DATA PROCESSING EQUIPMENT (ADPE) IDENTIFICATION CODE: a one position numeric code that indicates an item of adpe or containing adpe. in accordance with da pam 708-2, table 3-7 and dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 159.

AUTOMATIC DATA PROCESSING EQUIPMENT (ADPE) IDENTIFICATION CODE: a one position numeric code that indicates an item of adpe or containing adpe. in accordance with da pam 708-2, table 3-7 and dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 159.

AFFILIATION_CODE

AFFILIATION CODE: a one position alpha code that denotes the corporate relationship within a corporate complex structure. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 197.

AMC

ACQUISITION METHOD CODE: a code reflecting the decision of the primary inventory control activity /pica/ as to technique of purchasing to be employed from a planned procurement review. must be used in combination with drn 2876. see volume 10, tables 70 and 71 and quick info on-line.

AMSC

ACQUISITION METHOD SUFFIX CODE (AMSC): a supplementary code to indicate the primary reason why the numeric code/procurement method code/was assigned for procurement. e.g. item requires special testing, rights to procurement not legally available, etc. must be used in combination with drn 2871. see volume 10, tables 70 and 71 and quick info on-line.

APP_KEY

APPLICABILITY KEY: a three position alphanumeric code that indicates whether a requirement in a federal item identification guide (fiig) needs to be satisfied for the item being identified.

ARC

ACCOUNTING REQUIREMENTS CODE (ARC): a one position alpha code that indicates the accountability of an item of supply. in accordance with da pam 708-2, table 3-1 and dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 64.

ASH

AIR SPECIAL HANDLING CODE: a one position alphanumeric code for all shipments via air to identify material for manifesting and customs requirements. in accordance with dod 4100.3-m, volume 10, table 85.

ASSOCIATION_CAGE

ASSOCIATION CODE: a five position alphanumeric code assigned by the program manager to identify the corporate complex entity and all related sub-entities that comprise a corporate complex. the association code is used in item identification screening operations to determine actual or possible duplicate items when the reference number is the same but the commercial and government entity (cage) code is different.

AUTH_COLLAB

AUTHORIZED ITEM IDENTIFICATION DATA COLLABORATOR CODE: an activity designated to collaborate on proposed revisions to item identification data for all national item identification numbers with a moe rule on which the activity is recorded.

AUTH_RCVR

AUTHORIZED ITEM IDENTIFICATION DATA RECEIVER CODE: an activity designated to receive distribution of item identification file maintenance data for all national item identification numbers with a moe rule on which the activity is recorded.

BUDGET

BUDGET CODE: a one position alphanumeric code that identifies investment items to budget programs from which procurement of the particular item of supply is funded, or to identify expense items to the various divisions of the air force stock fund. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 67.

BUSINESS_SIZE

SIZE OF BUSINESS CODE: a one position alpha code that is recorded in the commercial and government entity (cage) code master file, which indicates the number of employees of a business or corporate complex. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 199.

BUSINESS_TYPE

TYPE OF BUSINESS CODE: a one position alpha code that is recorded in the commercial and government entity (cage) code master file, which defines the disadvantaged status of a business or corporate complex. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 201.

CAGE

COMMERCIAL AND GOVERNMENT ENTITY (CAGE) CODE: a five position alphanumeric code assigned to companies which either fabricate items of production and/or have design control of items procured by the federal government. the first and fifth positions will be numeric with the second, third, and fourth positions being alpha or numeric, excluding alpha i and o. if the cage is nato (ncage) the first and/or fifth positions will be an alpha. the ncage prefix (first position) and suffix (fifth position) character(s) designate a specific country or codification bureau (see flis procedures manual, volume 10, table 131).

CAGE_CODE

CRITICALITY CODE: a one position alpha code that indicates an item is technically critical by tolerance, fit, application, nuclear hardness properties, or other characteristics. in accordance with da pam 708-2, table 3-10 and dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 181.

CEC

COMBAT ESSENTIALITY CODE (CEC): a one position numeric code to establish that an end item is essential to the operational readiness of a weapon system or the conduct of a military mission, or that a functional part contributes to the tactical and essential operations of an end item component or assembly, and its failure would render the end item inoperable or incapable of fulfilling its mission, or that a repair or secondary depot repairable component is required for the safety and health of personnel, or is required by state or local laws. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 72.

CONTROLLED INVENTORY ITEM CODE (CIIC): a one position alphanumeric code that indicates the security classification and/or security risk or pilferage controls for storage and transportation of department of defense (dod) assets. in accordance with navsup p-485, volume ii, appendix 9, part d; da pam 708-2, table 3-9; and dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 61.

CITY: a thirty-six position alpha field that indicates the city portion of a mailing address.

COGNIZANCE (COG) CODE: a two position alphanumeric prefix code to the national stock number (nsn) of a line item of supply, which identifies the inventory manager (im) and inventory control point (icp). in accordance with navsup p-485, volume ii, appendix 18, part b and dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 62.

COUNTRY: a thirty-six position alphanumeric and special character field that indicates the country portion of the address.

DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE (DOD) AMMUNITION CODE (DODAC): a nine position alphanumeric code. the first four positions are numeric and represent the federal supply classification (fsc) assigned to the approved item name. the fifth position is a hyphen. the last four positions may be one or two position alpha followed by numerics and represent the ammunition code assigned to the items covered by generic descriptions.

ESD

ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD) CODE: a one position alpha code that indicates if an item is susceptible to electrostatic discharge or electromagnetic interference damage. electrostatic discharge damage occurs when an accumulation of static electricity generated by the relative motion or separation of materials is released to another item by direct contact. electromagnetic interference damage occurs when an item comes into proximity with an electrostatic or magnetic field. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 189.

FACSIMILE (FAX): a twenty position alphanumeric or special character field that indicates the supplier fax number.

FEDERAL ITEM IDENTIFICATION GUIDE (FIIG): a six position alphanumeric code in the master requirement directory recorded against a master requirement code (mrc) which identifies the fiig in which the mrc will be used.

FIPS_CITY

FEDERAL SUPPLY CLASSIFICATION (FSC): a four position numeric code which identifies the supply classification of an item of supply identified under the federal cataloging program, an item of production and/or a homogeneous area of commodities in respect to their physical or performance characteristics. the first two digits identify the federal supply group and the last two digits identify the specific class within the specified group. the combination of these four digits constitute the federal supply classification.

FSC_EXCLUSIONS

FEDERAL SUPPLY CLASS EXCLUSION NARRATIVE: an exclusion narrative will be used when it is desirable to limit the concept of a class by indicating that certain closely related items are excluded from the concept which might otherwise be construed as being included in the concept.

HMC

HAZARDOUS MATERIEL CODE (HMC): a two position alpha code that identifies material requiring special handling. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 49.

HMIC

HAZARDOUS MATERIAL INDICATOR CODE (HMIC): a one position alpha code that identifies a hazardous item. requires the procuring activity to acquire a material safety data sheet (msds). in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 179.

INVENTORY ACCOUNT CODE: a one position alpha code that designates the inventory account in which an item of supply is held in the coast guard supply system. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 127.

INTERMEDIATE CONTAINER QUANTITY: a three position alphanumeric code that indicates the quantity of the unit packs contained in the intermediate container. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 182 and mil-std-2073-1e, appendix b, table b.i.

ITEM MANAGEMENT CODE (IMC): a code denoting whether items of supply shall be subjected to integrated management under the defense supply agency or retained by the individual military service or other department of defense components for their management. assigned by the activity responsible for item management coding. see volume 10, tables 77 and 143 and quick info on-line.

IMCA

ITEM MANAGEMENT CODING ACTIVITY (IMCA): the military service inventory control point /icp/ or other department of defense component performing item management coding.

IMM

INTEGRATED MATERIEL MANAGER (IMM): a two position alphanumeric code that indicates the materiel manager responsible for the execution of assigned materiel management functions for selected items or selected federal supply classes.

INC

ITEM NAME CODE (INC): a five position numeric code that is assigned to each approved item name. non-approved item names are assigned item name code 77777. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 20.

INTEG

INTEGRITY CODE: a one position alpha code, which indicates that a national stock number (nsn) has been reviewed to ensure that the freight classification data is correct. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 176.

INTER_CONT

INTERMEDIATE CONTAINER CODE: a two position alphanumeric code that indicates a container which holds two or more unit packs of identical items. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 182 and mil-std-2073-1e, appendix j, table j.vii.

IRRC

ISSUE, REPAIR, REQUISITION RESTRICTION CODE (IRRC): a two position alphanumeric code that indicates restrictions to issue or procurement of the material involved or instructions for item requisitioning, turn-in, or exchange. in accordance with navsup p-485, volume ii, appendix 9, part g and dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 95.

ITEM STANDARDIZATION CODE (ISC): a one position alphanumeric code, which represents the item standardization decision. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 91.

ITEM_NAME

ITEM NAME: a thirty-two position alphanumeric or special character name, which establishes a basic concept of the item of supply to which the item belongs. it may be a basic noun or noun-phrase, followed by those modifiers necessary to differentiate between item concepts for items having the same basic noun.

JTC

JUMP TO CODE (JTC): a three position alpha code that denotes an exception to the normal sequence to be followed in the attrition of items within an interchangeability and substitutability (i&s) family. the first two positions will be identical to the order of use code assigned to the next preferred substitute item in the family subgroup and the last position will always be a. in accordance with da pam 708-2, paragraph 2-17.

LCL

LESS THAN CAR LOAD (LCL) RATING CODE: a one position alpha code denoting the class rating applicable to the item of supply under the uniform freight classification (ufc) system. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 215.

LTL

NATIONAL MOTOR FREIGHT CLASS RATING CODE (FORMERLY - LESS THAN TRUCK LOAD RATING CODE): a one position alpha code denoting the class rating applicable to the item of supply under the national motor freight classification (nmfc) system. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 86.

LVL_A

PACKING REQUIREMENT CODE: a one position alphanumeric code that indicates the type of shipping container required for level a maximum packing protection. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 182 and mil-std-2073-1e, appendix j, table j.ix.

LVL_B

PACKING REQUIREMENT CODE: a one position alphanumeric code that indicates the type of shipping container required for level b intermediate packing protection. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 182 and mil-std-2073-1e, appendix j, table j.ixa.

LVL_C

PACKING REQUIREMENT CODE: a one position alphanumeric code that indicates the type of shipping container required for level c minimal packing protection. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 182 and mil-std-2073-1e, appendix j, table j.ixb.

MCC

MANAGEMENT ECHELON CODE: a two position alphanumeric code employed by the marine corps in classifying items into categories by materiel category and procurement echelon. the alphanumeric management code is in the first position and identifies the materiel category. the numeric echelon code is in the second position and identifies the echelon acquiring stock. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 54.

MEC

MANAGEMENT ECHELON CODE: a two position alphanumeric code employed by the marine corps in classifying items into categories by materiel category and procurement echelon. the alphanumeric management code is in the first position and identifies the materiel category. the numeric echelon code is in the second position and identifies the echelon acquiring stock. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 54.

MIC

MATERIEL IDENTIFICATION CODE: a one position alpha code employed by the marine corps to identify the method of accounting, degree, and type of control to be maintained for the item under the supported activities supply system and to identify materiel by specific purpose, type, or classification for the war reserve sub-system. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 73.

MMAC

MATERIEL MANAGEMENT AGGREGATION CODE (MMAC): a two position alpha code that identifies an item of supply to be managed by a specific activity manager. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 66.

MODIFIER

MODIFIER: a thirty-two position clear text field for the item name code (inc) or federal supply classification (fsc) name modifier.

MOE

MAJOR ORGANIZATIONAL ENTITY (MOE) CODE: a two position alphanumeric code that represents the subdivision of a u.s. governmental organization or an agency of the north atlantic treaty organization (nato), and other friendly governments and international organizations participating in the federal catalog program. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 51.

MOE_CD

MAJOR ORGANIZATIONAL ENTITY (MOE) CODE: a two position alphanumeric code that represents the subdivision of a u.s. governmental organization or an agency of the north atlantic treaty organization (nato), and other friendly governments and international organizations participating in the federal catalog program. in accordance with dod 4100.39-m, volume 10, table 51.

MOE_RL

ITEM NAME: a thirty-two position alphanumeric or special character name, which establishes a basic concept of the item of supply to which the item belongs. it may be a basic noun or noun-phrase, followed by those modifiers necessary to differentiate between item concepts for items having the same basic noun.

NIIN

NATIONAL ITEM IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (NIIN): a nine position numeric number assigned to each approved item identification. the first two positions are the national codification bureau (ncb) code, followed by a seven position non-significant number.

NIMSC

NONCONSUMABLE ITEM MATERIAL SUPPORT CODES (NIMSCS) IDENTIFY THE DEGREE OF SUPPORT RECEIVED BY AN INDIVIDUAL SECONDARY INVENTORY CONTROL ACTIVITY (SICA) OR IDENTIFY THE SERVICE(S) PERFORMING DEPOT MAINTENANCE FOR A LEAD SERVICE (PRIMARY INVENTORY CONTROL ACTIVITY (PICA)).
