NIIN 01-067-5194 - Close Tolerance Screw

NSN 5305-01-067-5194 Classification

A screw, machine or screw, cap, socket head whose unthreaded portion is of specified grip length, plated or unplated, and is machined to a tolerance of one thousandth (0.001 in.) (0.025 mm) or less of a specific diameter for items (1.000 in.) (25 mm) or less in diameter. Items over (1.000 in.) (25 mm) in diameter shall have a tolerance of fifteen ten thousandths (0.0015 in.) (0.038 mm) or less. The nominal major diameter of the threads shall be at least one thousandth (0.001 in.) (0.025 mm) below the minimum shank diameter, but not below the minimum major diameter for applicable class of fit, as shown in the screw thread standards, fed std h28 and/or other nationally recognized standards. The head is designed to be held or driven with an inserted driver. It is not designed for rotation by the thumb and fingers. A locking feature may be incorporated in the design of the head or threads.

0.3110 inches minimum and 0.3120 inches maximum grip diameter, 99.0 degrees minimum and 101.0 degrees maximum countersink angle, 0.865 inches minimum and 0.885 inches maximum grip length, 0.578 inches minimum and 0.633 inches maximum head diameter, 1.361 inches minimum and 1.391 inches maximum fastener length

U
(PMIC) Precious Metals Indicator
Precious metal content is unknown
What does the U code means?

Precious metals indicator code (pmic): this code is to identify items that have precious metals as part of their content. Precious metals are those metals generally considered to be uncommon and highly valuable which are relatively superior in certain properties such as resistance to corrosion and electrical conductivity. The precious metals recovery program for the federal government encompasses gold, silver, platinum, and the platinum family which consists of palladium, iridium, rhodium, osmium, and ruthenium. See volume 10, table 160 and quick info on-line.

N
(HMIC) Hazardous Metal Indicator
Indicates there is no data in the hmirs and the nsn is in a fsc not generally suspected of containing hazardous materials.
What does the N code means?

Hazardous materials indicator code: a code established in the dlis total item record (tir) to identify to users of the federal catalog system all known or suspected hazardous items as defined by safety/health, transaction and/or environmental regulations, to serve as a flag that a procuring activity must acquire a material safety data sheet when a hazardous item is procured, and to inform federal catalog system users when more detailed information on an item is available in the hazardous material information system. See volume 10, table 179 and quick info on-line.

X
Criticality Code
The item does not have a nuclear hardened feature or any other critical feature such as tolerance, fit restriction or application.
What does the X code means?

Criticality code, federal item identification guide: a code which indicates when an item is technically critical, by reason of tolerance, fit, application, nuclear hardness properties or other characteristic which affects identification of the item. See volume 10, table 181 and quick info on-line.
