the bristles shall be fabricated of stainless steel. the back and handle of the brush may be fabricated of metal or organic material. any metal used shall be treated to resist corrosion. any organic material used shall be NON-Absorbent and washable in hot, soapy water. the materials shall not be biodegradable and shall not be damaged by storage at high and low temperatures. the color is optional.
the brush shall be designed and fabricated for use as a grooming tool for dogs, particularly for removing mats and tangles, and for the fine seperation and alignment of the coat hairs to provide a smooth appearance. the brush shall consist of fine wire bristles imbedded in a head with an integral handle. the brush shall have a rectangular shape. the handle shall extend from one side of the head, and shall be perpendicular the long axis of the brush. the head shall be slightly curved on its short axis, so that it resembles a rectangular section from a hollow cylinder. the bristles shall be imbedded in the convex surface of the head, and shall extend a uniform distance from the head. the brush shall be at least 2in. long and 4in. wide, and shall contain between 200 and 250 bristles per square inch. the bristles shall be of a uniform length between 0.50 and 0.75in.. the handle shall be at least 4in. long.

ENAC: Enviromental Attribute Code. Identifies items with environmentally preferred characteristics.
CRITL: Criticality Indicator Code. Indicates an item is technically critical by tolerance, fit, application, nuclear hardness properties, or other characteristics.

SOS: Source of Supply. A three position code or routing identifier code (ric), which identifies the source of supply activity.
SMIC: Special Material Indicator Code. A two position code, which categorizes material on the basis of requirements for source or quality control, technical design or configuration control, procurement, stocking and issue control, special receipt, inspection, testing, storage, or handling.
MMAC: Material Management Aggregation Code. A two position code that identifies an item of supply to be managed by a specific activity manager.
MCC: Material Echelon Code. A two position code employed by the marine corps in classifying items into categories by materiel category and procurement echelon. the alphanumeric management code is in the first position and identifies the materiel category
IMC: Denotes wether items shall be subjected to integrated management under the defense supply agency or retained by the individual military service or other department of defense components for their management. Assigned by th activity responsible for item management coding.
